5th Progress Meeting in Stockholm: Final Steps and Forward-Looking Perspectives

On September 12–13, 2024, the EXPERT consortium gathered for its 5th Progress Meeting at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Hosted by project partner Karolinska Institute, the meeting marked an important milestone in the final phase of the project, bringing together representatives from all work packages to review progress, discuss remaining tasks, and align on next steps. Each work package leader presented the latest results and outlined the activities still to be completed by the project’s end. A central part of the discussions focused on addressing the recommendations from the 3rd EC Review Meeting. Feedback from the reviewers was carefully examined, and the consortium agreed on concrete follow-up measures to ensure a strong and impactful project closure.

In parallel to the meeting sessions, project partner Eurice coordinated the filming of a series of expert interviews with key consortium members. Based on a jointly developed concept, the video clips were designed to communicate the project’s findings to both the scientific community and the general public. The recordings captured personal insights and highlighted challenges and breakthroughs encountered during the course of the project. Right after the meeting, the videos will be used across EXPERT’s communication channels to support outreach efforts in the final project months.

Beyond reviewing technical progress, the meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on the project's major achievements and explore ways to sustain its impact beyond the funding period. Lively discussions led to several concrete ideas for future collaborations and follow-up initiatives building on the results of EXPERT. The meeting in Stockholm not only strengthened the consortium’s shared vision for a successful project completion but also laid the foundation for the next chapter in advancing mRNA-based cancer therapeutics.
