Final Project Meeting in Frankfurt: Reflecting on Success and Looking Ahead

On January 27–28, 2025, the EXPERT consortium came together in Frankfurt, Germany, for the Final Project Meeting. The 1.5-day gathering marked the official close of the project and was strategically scheduled as a complementary event to the 4th mRNA Therapeutics Summit Europe, taking place immediately afterward (January 28–30, 2025). The timing allowed for seamless participation, as many consortium members were also attending the summit—either as participants or invited speakers.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the project’s overall progress, review the key results achieved, and coordinate efforts for final reporting and the upcoming EC Review Meeting. Throughout the sessions, it became clear that EXPERT had generated a broad range of tangible outcomes with strong potential for further development and long-term impact.

A highlight of the broader summit was a dedicated EXPERT workshop, held as a satellite session on January 28, in which several consortium partners contributed actively. This session served as a powerful platform to showcase the project’s findings to a wider audience and engage with stakeholders from across the RNA therapeutics ecosystem.

Beyond celebrating achievements, the Final Meeting was also forward-looking. A significant portion of the agenda was devoted to identifying concrete next steps and discussing opportunities for continued collaboration. Several promising ideas for follow-up proposals emerged, demonstrating the strong commitment of the consortium to sustain and expand the work initiated under EXPERT. The meeting in Frankfurt not only marked the successful conclusion of the project, but also reaffirmed the consortium’s shared ambition to further advance mRNA-based innovations for cancer therapy.
